Reader Theresia Whitfield points us at a blog post from a Christian missionary. His message is that failure is often a gift of God.
Seth Barnes explains this simply on his website:
The problem is that I misinterpreted failure as rejection. I saw myself going backward when actually, God was promoting me.
I used to look at my failures and misinterpret what God was doing. When I was fired from my first job, I saw that as me failing – a demotion.
What I see in retrospect is that failure was God’s tool to move me to a posture of dependence [on Him.]
If we think about failure as the secret to success in a spiritual context, Mr. Barnes words can ring true. Instead of attributing failure as rejection, it is an opportunity to be stronger. It’s a chance to recognize how we can be of better service to what we believe to be right.
No matter your spiritual persuasion, you have to admit that mistakes are part of the process. The question is whether you will use them as a source of blame or as inspiration to be come stronger, better and more complete.
