[VIDEO] How Taking A Gamble Saved Lives

December 8th, 2014 - by Alyssa Shea

Normally, messing around on YouTube and watching random videos could seem like a total waste of time. But one man took an idea he saw in a video and discovered a way to save lives.

Car mechanic, Jorge Odón, watched a video on YouTube that shows an easy way to get a cork out of a wine bottle. This video definitely helped many of us out of that frustrating situation. But Odón couldn’t get the image from the video out of his head. This was how his mind came up with a technique that can help save numerous lives of babies during birth.

He built his first prototype in his own kitchen using a glass jar to simulate a womb, his daughter’s doll to imitate a trapped baby, and a fabric bag and sleeve that his wife sewed together as his new, lifesaving invention.

Odón took a chance and acted on his epiphany when he saw the video. He proved that a risky gamble may not fail, it can succeed!
