Colonel Sanders Failed Before Succeeding

June 10th, 2016 - by Alyssa Shea

Colonel Sanders is an icon. We all have either driven past or eaten at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Yet he wasn’t always a successful businessman. In fact, he was a huge failure.

Harland Sanders, more famously known as the Colonel, didn’t find success from the very start. In fact, he was fired from multiple jobs before he started his own restaurant. And when that failed, he found himself broke at 65 years old. He drove around the country, begging diner owners to to use his chicken recipe for just a nickel commission. Even his first marriage ended in failure.

But his brand survived even past his death. His secret herbs and spices mixture is what makes KFC so well loved and sought after. The recipe is kept under lock and key in a vault at their headquarters in Kentucky. Even after all his failures, Colonel Sanders still found success!
