Golfer Jason Day knows what it means to be motivated by failure. Does it come as a surprise to find out that this is what helped him rise to the top?
During the 2015 British Open, Day found himself in the jaws of failure. A 30-foot birdie on the 18th hole proved to be his demise. It fell short. But that didn’t make him throw in the towel. Instead, Day realized he had what it takes to win majors. He spoke positively about the experience in this Houston Chronicle article:
“I learn more when I fail than when I win,” Days. “We’re not going to win every single one. Even though I don’t like losing, it was great to be able to learn something from that and turn this into what I would say a learning experience. … It was really bad. It was a terrible way to lose, and it was frustrating and disappointing. But things like this, you can’t win them all.”
Failing doesn’t have to knock you down and out. Let failure be your motivation for success!
