Even the infamous Steven Spielberg has failed a few times. In fact, he was rejected from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts several times!
Evan Luzi wrote an article a few years back about Spielberg’s failures and came up with something pretty catchy – Spielberg’s Three Step Guide to Rejection. Check out the list below!
Step 1: Prevent Laziness
Sometimes, rejection can cause you to feel burnt out and lose your passion.
“After sending out so many responses to job offers, you can settle into an attitude of disappointment.”
Step 2: Overcome Your Attitude
Failure can put a chip on anyone’s shoulder, but you have to shake that off.
“Instead of deciding that you shouldn’t apply to any more jobs because of rejection, decide that you will send more resumes out in spite of the rejections.”
Step 3: Make your eventual success, enjoy it, and share it
We all have to earn our success. Nothing will be handed to us for free, so pay it forward.
“Don’t expect to have success land in your lap — you need to make it. And once you have it, you won’t have to prove how good you are anymore (you can have other people do it for you — like Spielberg did). Instead you can enjoy your success.”
