Could you imagine a world in which Fred Astaire never graced the stage? He taught every actor and dancer so much in his time yet he was close to never making it big.
Astaire was born to be a performer and hit the stage as soon as he could in 1917. He was light on his feet, practiced for hours, and was a perfectionist. Performing ran in the family, as his older sister Adele partnered up with him to tour the vaudeville circuit. Unfortunately, Adele decided on a different life path, and left the stage to marry. Trying to make his way into movies was one of the hardest things he accomplished. In fact, most studios wouldn’t give him the time of day.
One studio executive stated:
“Can’t sing. Can’t act. Slightly balding. Can dance a little.”
It’s easy to forget how much hard work goes into reaching your goals. You may also find that you will have to fail to find success!
