Stranger Things Faced Rejection

January 11th, 2017 - by Alyssa Shea

The hit Netflix series, Stranger Things, is well on its way to becoming a classic. Matt and Ross Duffer, the twin brothers behind the beloved series, must have had no problem getting the green light from networks, right?

Wrong! The Duffers sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about their inspirations behind the show and their love of movies from the ’80s. When they brought the idea for Stranger Things to networks, most of them immediately shot the brothers down while others insisted that they change core aspects of the show.

“There was a week where we were like, ‘This isn’t going to work because people don’t get it,’” Matt recalled.

Instead, they stuck to their guns and finally had a meeting with Netflix which not only jumped on the opportunity, but now we’re all able to look forward to a sequel! Failing happens along the way to success.
