Ben Schwartz Took Risks

June 27th, 2017 - by Alyssa Shea

You may know Ben Schwartz from his days on “Parks & Recreation” or “House of Lies” but did you know he lied his way into an interview at MTV?

Ben Schwartz told the story of lying about having an interview at Viacom and how his charisma helped him make it all the way to the hiring coordinator’s office. Unfortunately, he could only look on as his resume hit a big pile full of other hopeful employees. Needless to say, he didn’t leave with a job, but 15 years later he spoke to students about his road to fame and wanted to impart some very serious wisdom on them:

“I feel like when I was in college I was very hesitant to take risks,” Schwartz told The Setonian. “And just the idea of learning to take a risk and learning that it’s okay to fail, for me, was really important.”

Taking risks may end in failure but what matters is you tried at all!
