Why Some Video Games Fail

July 17th, 2017 - by Alyssa Shea

Creator of the successful XCOM game, Jake Solomon, sat down with Gamespot to talk about what drives him most. Failure is definitely on his mind!

At PAX, Solomon went into detail about how he uses failure like a tool while crafting his games. Whatever we learn from failing is far more valuable than the fact that we failed. He explained to Gamespot:

“When you try to come up with something new, failure is a big part of that, and so that means failure is a very big part of what I do. And so there’s a very good chance that my failure could end up becoming big enough that maybe a game is my last game, for a long time or forever.”

Solomon has a healthy respect for failure and the success it can bring!
