Judd Apatow Overcame Fear

October 2nd, 2017 - by Alyssa Shea

You may know Judd Apatow from the many hilarious movies he has produced and how successful he has become. You may not know that he struggled to get this far.

Judd Apatow knew since he was a young child that he wanted to work on movies. You may have seen some of the comedy gems that he has given the world such as Knocked Up, Anchorman, or The 40-Year-Old Virgin. That dream came true as he now writes, produces, and directs. He wears many hats, even doing stand-up comedy! So what advice was Apatow given that gave him the drive to make it in such a cutthroat industry?

Daniel Roth of LinkedIn talked to him recently about this very topic and Appatow explained:

A mentor gave him advice that has helped guide his path ever since. “Judd, if you do their notes, and they’re wrong, and then they don’t pick up your pilot, they won’t apologize,” Apatow recalls being told. “Just make sure you go down with your ship. You need to do it the way you want to do it, and succeed or fail.”

Sometimes you just need a little wise advice to tell you it’s okay to fail!
