Clerical Error Leads To Reunion

November 6th, 2017 - by Alyssa Shea

Clerical errors can strike fear in the hearts of many. Yet two sisters wouldn’t have ever found each other if that error never occurred!

Jen Bricker always found herself drawn to gymnastics, from a very young age. She never let her disabilities hold her back and became an opening act for Britney Spears even though she was born without her legs. Her parents, which were mistakenly listed on her birth certificate even though it was a closed adoption, always knew she came from Romania.

“We were watching the Olympics…and I knew Dominique’s last name was Moceanu. They panned out into the audience and showed Camelia and Dumitru and had their names there and I knew from the birth certificate those names and I freaked out,” Sharon said. “I go, ‘Well, they’ve got money. They might want her back!'”

Thanks to that error, they successfully found each other later in life!
